Not only that, but we could all use a little extra comfort this year, and these recipes will quickly join your list of stand-by favorites.
Why Collagen Peptides
Before we start the recipes, let’s take a minute to look at why LiveWell Collagen Peptides are the perfect addition to your detox diet.
Collagen is the most abundant protein in your body. So why do you need more of it? Mainly because as you age, your skin loses collagen and isn’t able to produce enough to keep up with that loss. It happens throughout your body and has an impact all over, but where you first begin to notice it is in the small lines on your face and skin that eventually turn into wrinkles. That’s a great reason to take collagen peptides, to ward off the apparent effects of aging.
While looking your best is important, overall health is a bigger concern. Luckily, collagen can play a significant role in helping you feel better all over. These are just a few different ways you can count on collagen.
♦ Relieves joint pain. Research has proven that collagen is beneficial in relieving joint pain due to osteoarthritis.
♦ Supports heart health. Researchers have found that there may be a connection between good cholesterol and collagen, which can make a big difference in cardiovascular disease prevention and avoiding hardening of the arteries.
♦ Combats osteoporosis or bone loss. Collagen is considered a positive addition to your therapeutic treatments for osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is a huge concern for women as it affects them in greater numbers than men. The best time to start fighting this disease is early, long before you begin to show any symptoms of bone loss.
♦ Improves muscle mass. Studies have shown that collagen peptides enhance muscle mass and strength.
So, adding collagen peptides to your detox can help you look and feel better. It’s a head-to-toe solution to warding off the effects of aging. It’s also an easy addition to the following delicious detox recipes.
Super Green Collagen Detox Soup Recipe
Who doesn’t love a great green soup? Of course, we had to try the original detox soup recipe, and then we decided to play with it a little bit. We encourage you to do the same.
Add or subtract some ingredients to suit your taste buds, and then enjoy. Remember, it can be frozen, so we suggest doubling the recipe and keeping some on hand for those chilly days when you need a boost, and you don’t have the energy to cook.
1 tablespoon olive oil (we suggest a spicy chili seasoned one for more zip)
1 cup onion, diced
⅛ teaspoon salt
⅛ teaspoon ground pepper
1 tablespoon ginger, use diced fresh ginger if possible
1 clove garlic, diced (or you can use 1 tablespoon pre-minced garlic)
¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 quart chicken bone broth (veggie stock for vegetarians)
2 cups spinach
2 cups kale
¼ cup cilantro (can omit if you can’t stand cilantro)
¼ cup dill leaves
3 tablespoons Collagen Peptides
1. In a large pot over medium heat, cook olive oil and the onion until the onion starts to caramelize. Add the salt and pepper. Remove from heat and add ginger, garlic, and turmeric. Stir to incorporate, and return to burner for another minute or two.
2. Add apple cider vinegar and cook for another minute or two. The vinegar will reduce dramatically. Add your broth and simmer for 10 minutes at medium high heat.
3. Remove from heat and let it cool. It doesn’t have to reach room temperature, but you don’t want it to be boiling hot either.
4. Once cooled, add the soup to the blender and combine with spinach, kale, cilantro, and dill. Don’t forget to add your collagen peptides. Blend slowly and increase speed until you have a smooth soup. If you like it thicker, add more spinach.
5. This makes about six servings, each with a half a day’s worth of collagen peptide supplements.
Lemon Ginger Detox Tea Recipe
Snuggle up and sip this delicious detox tea. We started with the original recipe and then got a little zippy, adding a bit more flavor for fun. We also discovered that a dash of honey liqueur turns it into a wonderful hot toddy and gives you a boost if you’re starting to feel a cold coming on.
2 thin slices fresh ginger
2 thin slices fresh turmeric
1 lemon wedge
1-2 cups water
1 tablespoon Collagen Peptides
Boil water and add the ginger, turmeric, and lemon wedge. Let it steep for about five minutes, and then strain the water out. Add collagen peptides and stir until dissolved. If you want to add some sweetness, then use a bit of raw honey. If you want to add a little excitement, try some honey liqueur. Please note that adding honey and liqueur takes away the detox benefits of the tea, but they can also make them a regular in your healthy routine or a cold-weather treat.
Whether it’s a cozy tea you crave or a vibrant green soup, you can make these detox treats a bit better with the addition of collagen peptides. Collagen is an abundant protein that your body needs to look and feel youthful. Unfortunately, as you age, you lose collagen and aren’t able to maintain the rate of production that you had when you were younger. But the good news is that supplements can help you replenish your collagen supplies.
Once you get the hang of it, you’ll start seeing other ways you can combine your Live Well Collagen Peptides with other foods to get the nutrition your body needs, without any extra steps or boring water blends. You can do this, and you can make taking supplements just as exciting as you are.
